Yamify is building sovereign AI infrastructure for Africa
What they do:
Yamify is building Africa’s AI-native cloud platform for the next generation of AI applications, agents, and infrastructure.
As artificial intelligence becomes foundational to software, enterprises, and governments, African developers and organizations still face limited access to reliable GPU infrastructure, AI deployment platforms, and sovereign cloud environments. Yamify is solving this by building infrastructure designed specifically for African markets.
Why we invested:
African SMEs suffer from "silent failures" because global cloud providers assume infrastructure stability that frontier markets lack. Yamify solves this by building autonomous, locally hosted AI and automation infrastructure for Francophone Africa.CEO Luc Okalobé brings 15 years of Silicon Valley SRE experience from Heroku, Apple, and Salesforce, building resilient infrastructure designed for volatile environments.
By hosting workloads locally via Kinshasa’s Tier-III OADC data center, Yamify turns regional data residency requirements into an immediate, defensible moat that global cloud players cannot easily replicate.
The Founder:
Luc Okalobe is the Founder and CEO of Yamify. He spent 15 years in Silicon Valley building cloud infrastructure and distributed systems for companies including Apple, Yahoo, Salesforce, TikTok, Pinterest, and IBM.
After returning to Congo-Brazzaville, Luc experienced firsthand how difficult it was for developers and organizations in Africa to access reliable AI and cloud infrastructure. He founded Yamify to help Africa build sovereign AI infrastructure and reduce dependence on foreign AI platforms.
Mike Kabangu is Co-Founder and Head of Operations & Customer Success at Yamify. He brings more than 15 years of experience in customer success, operations, and enterprise support from Silicon Valley, where he worked with global technology companies including Credit Karma and Fujitsu in the San Francisco Bay Area.
At Yamify, Mike leads operations, customer success, and ecosystem support, helping ensure that developers, startups, enterprises, and institutions across Africa can successfully adopt and scale AI infrastructure technologies.
