IWD 2024: Hannah Subayi Kamuanga

Hannah Subayi Kamuanga

General Partner, Launch Africa Ventures

Before joining Launch Africa, Hannah was a principal in a $1bn African fund, an investment banker in London and most recently the Country Officer for the Republic Democratic of Congo (DRC) within Proparco - one of the largest DFIs in the world

Congolese (DRC Congo) born, Hannah graduated from HEC Paris Business School and from Paris I - La Sorbonne Law School in France
with two Masters degrees (in Finance and in Business Law).

Some words from Hannah:

Impact in Africa means being a quality investor focused on designing and implementing inclusive, diverse and return-accretive investment strategies on the continent.

This means generating economic, financial and social value for all the stakeholders of the ecosystem - starting with the LPs who trust us with their capital and then the founding teams, the clients, suppliers and the African communities.

My aim is to fund quality and innovative tech ventures across various geographies and sectors and contribute to the economic development of the continent. From this perspective, being aware of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations (UN SDG), and tracking impact KPIs in each of our investee companies are at the heart of my investment philosophy.

My personal ambition is to back 5 unicorns - I am sure that we have one or 2 already in our portfolio!

I aim to be a pioneer, whether it is advancing gender lens investing, frontier markets funding or underrated or unconventional sectors in Africa such as deep-tech, beauty-tech gaming and esports!
