The financial infrastructure for global commodities trade
What they do:
AgriDex is a digital marketplace revolutionizing global commodity trading. Built by a family of farmers for the world of agriculture, it now serves all commodities. The platform enables instant cross-border settlements with transaction fees priced in cents and occurring in seconds.
AgriDex has optimised trades corridors across multiple agricultural commodities, addressing inefficiencies in the $2.7 trillion agriculture industry. With its proprietary Loam payment system, AgriDex eliminates middlemen and reduces friction while providing debt products, treasury optimisation and a range of banking products.
Why we invested:
Africa's $140B+ trade finance gap is one of the continent's most damaging yet least addressed infrastructure problems. Commodity exporters routinely lose 20–40% of their margins to slow SWIFT settlements, punitive FX spreads, and expensive letters of credit with traditional banks actively retreating from the space,SME traders are left with fewer options at higher cost. Agridex is building the alternative rails. Its stablecoin-based settlement is 85–93% lower cost than traditional routes. Agridex has validated product-market fit with both SME exporters and institutional-scale operators giving it first mover advantage in the market.
The Founder:
Henry Duckworth is the CEO and co-founder of AgriDex. Born into a farming family in Africa, he witnessed firsthand the challenges of agricultural system collapse and severe inflation. He began his career as the youngest physical commodities trader at Trafigura before establishing the EMEA desk for EFA Group, accumulating over 12 years of experience in agricultural trading across multiple jurisdictions. His work in impact investing throughout the EMEA region exposed him to the realities of food insecurity and systemic inefficiencies in agricultural supply chains. Duckworth brings deep expertise in cross-border agricultural transactions to his mission of creating transparent, efficient markets that empower farmers with faster payments and reduced transaction costs.
